Search Engine Optimisation takes into account the factors used by Google, Bing etc. when they position websites in their natural listings. When we search for anything, up come the natural search lists. They are not to be confused with the Pay per Click entries. In a typical Google or Bing search, you can see the paid listings in the right column and in the yellow box at the top. Whilst the other free ads have been listed by the SE’s. The order of each site is determined by its ‘importance’ and relevance to the keyword.
We want to be right up there where we can be seen. We’re unlikely to get noticed if we’re number 8 on the tenth page! It’s impossible to know about all the SE’s rank determining factors. This is to prevent an outsider controlling the system.
Nevertheless, an entire industry has evolved around Search Engine listings. We have Search Engines constantly developing new technology on the one hand. Causing much mystification about their methods! On the other hand, there’s Search Engine Optimisation. Optimisation specialists test, quantify and evaluate a myriad of indicators that affect a site’s ratings.
SEO looks at two different aspects – one is Off Page and the other is On Page. In addition there are geographic and demographic factors, but SEO cannot control these. To understand factors relating to off-page, please see our additional editorial.
ON PAGE SEO Explained
On-Page SEO is all about changes you can make directly to a site to make it more Search Engine ‘friendly’. This is actually a fairly clear-cut process. It involves such factors as – Internal-linking, using H1 & H2 header tags, seeding keywords at the correct density (and in appropriate places,) and to some lesser degree, using meta-tags.
That might sound like gobbledy-gook, but don’t be alarmed! On-Page optimisation is now known to have the smallest affect on your page rank. In truth, many argue its relevance has disappeared altogether! In the past it was easy to affect Search Engines with on-page SEO. Not any longer though.
Having said that, if the website benefits from off page optimisation, then on page work should be looked at. When that’s happened, on-page factors can be optimised.
Things To Consider… A phrase that shows vast numbers of results should not be your first SEO target. ‘Car Insurance’ is a term to stay away from – unless you want to compete with 70,000,000 others! It’s not rocket science to realise that competing in this area wouldn’t be productive.
But… If I typed in “Southampton Car Insurance”, then there are only around 300,000 results. (Presuming that was my market). A big number still it seems – but actually quite a small number when it comes to web searches.
Now my chances are significantly improved. In actual fact, it takes very deep pockets to get a premier listing for a term like ‘car insurance’. I would actually be competing with the insurance conglomerates! Which is really not a good idea.
A precise description is much more valuable to us. These ‘long tail’ phrases might contain a number of specific keywords. If your market’s very competitive, you could be selecting seven word phrases. Usually, a long-tail phrase is three or four words.
In our opinion, phrases returning fewer than five hundred thousand results are a good start. (If the sites on the front page haven’t used SEO techniques, then we might go with bigger yields). As time goes on, we’ll benefit from an automatic improvement on the bigger terms as well. With some effort, it will be possible to have a stab at the big ones within a year. A line of attack like this makes business sense. We basically go after the high-converting phrases with ‘commercial intent’ – i.e. customers who are looking to purchase!
Your home page isn’t the only place for back-links. Spread them liberally around your website. This is known as deep linking. Product Group pages are a good place for back links. They very frequently link up to a range of sub-pages, so driving appropriate terms to them can be very worthwhile. So don’t limit the back links to one page. Bing, Yahoo and Google are all paying more attention to the way a website’s pages are managed and listed.

Should you be wanting to study to get an MCSE, it’s likely you’ll come into one of two categories. You might be ready to get into the IT environment, and you’ve discovered that the industry has a great need for people with the right qualifications. Or you are perhaps an IT professional ready to gain acknowledgement with the Microsoft qualification.
As you discover more about computer training companies, don’t use those who reduce their costs by not upgrading their courses to the latest level of Microsoft development. Over time, this will frustrate and cost the student much more because they’ve been taught from an out-of-date syllabus which will require an up-date pretty much straight away.
Avoid making a hasty decision when buying a course for MCSE before having all your questions answered. Find a training provider that will put effort into advising you on the most suitable training path for you.
Review the facts below carefully if you believe that over-used sales technique about a guarantee for your exam looks like a reason to buy:
It’s become essential these days that we’re a bit more aware of hype – and generally we know that for sure it is something we’re paying for – they’re not just being charitable and doling out freebies!
Passing first time is everyone’s goal. Going for exams in order and funding them one at a time has a marked effect on pass-rates – you take it seriously and think carefully about the costs.
Isn’t it outrageous to have to pay a training college up-front for exam fees? Find the best exam deal or offer at the appropriate time, rather than coughing up months or even a year or two in advance – and sit exams more locally – not at somewhere of their bidding.
Paying in advance for examination fees (and interest charges if you’re borrowing money) is a false economy. Why fill a company’s coffers with extra money of yours just to give them a good cash-flow! Many will hope you don’t even take them all – then they’ll keep the extra money.
Don’t forget, in the majority of cases of ‘exam guarantees’ – you are not in control of when you are allowed to have another go. You’ll have to prove conclusively that you can pass before they’ll pay for another exam.
With average prices for VUE and Pro-metric tests coming in at approximately 112 pounds in Great Britain, it makes sense to pay as you go. It’s not in the student’s interests to fork out hundreds or thousands of pounds for exams when enrolling on a course. Study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams is what will really guarantee success.
In most cases, your normal trainee doesn’t know what way to go about starting in a computing career, let alone what sector to focus their retraining program on.
I mean, if you have no know-how of the IT market, how could you possibly know what a particular IT employee actually does day-to-day? Let alone decide on which accreditation path provides the best chances for you to get there.
Getting to the right answer can only grow through a systematic analysis of many altering criteria:
* Our personalities play an important role – what gets you ‘up and running’, and what are the activities that put a frown on your face.
* Are you hoping to re-train due to a specific raison d’etre – e.g. are you pushing to work at home (being your own boss?)?
* Is the money you make further up on your priority-list than other requirements.
* Understanding what the normal work areas and sectors are – and what makes them different.
* You’ll also need to think hard about the amount of time and effort you’re going to give to your education.
The bottom line is, the only real way of investigating all this is through a meeting with someone who has enough background to provide solid advice.
The perhaps intimidating chore of finding your first IT job can be relieved by training colleges, through a Job Placement Assistance service. Having said that, occasionally too much is made of this feature, as it’s really not that difficult for well qualified and focused men and women to land work in the IT industry – because companies everywhere are seeking well trained people.
Get your CV updated straight-away though – look to your training company for advice on how to do this. Don’t procrastinate and leave it for when you’re ready to start work.
Getting onto the ‘maybe’ pile of CV’s is more than not being regarded at all. A surprising amount of junior support roles are offered to students (who’ve only just left first base.)
Generally, a specialist independent regional employment agency (who will get paid by the employer when they’ve placed you) should get better results than any division of a training company. It also stands to reason that they’ll know local industry and the area better.
A constant grievance of various training companies is how much men and women are prepared to study to become certified, but how un-prepared that student is to get the job they’re qualified for. Have confidence – the IT industry needs YOU.
Being a part of the information technology industry is one of the most exciting and ground-breaking industries that you could be a part of. Being a member of a team working on breakthroughs in technology means you’re a part of the huge progress shaping life over the next few decades.
Technology, computers and connections through the internet is going to radically affect our lifestyles over the coming years; profoundly so.
If money is up there on your scale of wants, you’ll be happy to know that the income on average for IT employees in general is significantly more than salaries in most other jobs or industries.
The good news is there’s not a hint of a downturn for IT industry increases in the UK. The sector continues to develop rapidly, and as we have a significant shortage of skilled professionals, it’s not likely that there’ll be any kind of easing off for years to come.

Computer Career Training And Study In The UK – News

Good for you! Hitting upon this feature means you’re likely to be wondering about where you’re going, and if training for a new career’s in your mind you’ve even now progressed more than most. Did you know that surprisingly few of us are fulfilled and satisfied with our jobs – but the majority won’t do a thing about it. Why not break free and take action – those who do hardly ever regret it.
We’d politely request that prior to beginning any individual training program, you chat with an expert who has knowledge of the industry and can make recommendations. They can assess your personality and help you sort out a role to fit you:

Beginning from the viewpoint that it’s good to home-in on the employment that excites us first and foremost, before we can even ponder which method of training meets that requirement, how are we supposed to find the way that suits us?
Scanning a list of IT job-titles is a complete waste of time. The majority of us have no idea what the neighbours do for a living – so we have no hope of understanding the complexities of a particular IT career.
The key to answering this predicament appropriately lies in a thorough discussion of some important points:
* What nature of person you think yourself to be – the tasks that you find interesting, and don’t forget – what don’t you like doing.
* What time-frame are you looking at for the retraining?
* What salary and timescale needs that guide you?
* When taking into account all that the IT industry encompasses, you’ll need to be able to understand the differences.
* You’ll also need to think hard about the amount of time and effort you’ll put into your education.
The best way to avoid all the jargon and confusion, and reveal the best route for you, have a good talk with an industry expert and advisor; a person who understands the commercial reality as well as each certification.
So many training providers only concern themselves with gaining a certificate, and completely avoid why you’re doing this – getting yourself a new job or career. Your focus should start with the end in mind – don’t make the vehicle more important than the destination.
Don’t be one of the unfortunate masses who set off on a track which looks like it could be fun – and end up with a certification for something they’ll never enjoy.
Get to grips with earning potential and how ambitious you are. This can often control what particular qualifications will be required and what you can expect to give industry in return.
It’s good advice for all students to speak to an experienced professional before deciding on their learning path. This gives some measure of assurance that it features what is required for the chosen career.
Validated exam preparation and simulation materials are essential – and really must be sought from your training provider.
Because most IT examination boards are from the USA, you need to become familiar with their phraseology. It’s not sufficient simply going through the right questions – they need to be in the proper exam format.
As you can imagine, it’s very crucial to ensure that you are completely prepared for your commercial exam before taking it. Practicing ‘mock’ tests will help to boost your attitude and helps to avoid thwarted exam entries.
Ensure all your exams are current and commercially required – forget courses that only give in-house certificates.
Unless your qualification is issued by a big-hitter like Microsoft, Adobe, CompTIA or Cisco, then you’ll probably find it will be commercially useless – as no-one will have heard of it.

Selecting an IT training program that equates to commercial requirements is crucially important in our turbulent times. But it’s just as crucial to find one that you’ll enjoy, that fits your character and ability level.
Should you be considering upgrading your IT skill-set, maybe with some office user skills, or possibly becoming professionally qualified, you have lots of courses to choose from.

Working on progressive developments in new technology gives you the best job satisfaction ever. Your actions are instrumental in impacting progress around the world.
We’ve barely started to get a feel for how technology will define our world. Technology and the web will profoundly revolutionise how we view and interrelate with the world around us over the years to come.
Should receiving a good salary be high on your scale of wants, then you will be pleasantly surprised to hear that the regular income of a typical IT worker is noticeably better than salaries in much of the rest of industry.
Excitingly, there’s no easing up for IT industry expansion in the United Kingdom. The market sector continues to grow enormously, and as we have a significant shortage of skilled professionals, it’s most unlikely that it will even slow down for decades to come.
An effective training course package will undoubtedly also include Microsoft (or key company) simulation materials and exam preparation packages.
Don’t fall foul of depending on non-accredited preparation materials for exams. The terminology of their questions is often somewhat different – and often this creates real issues when it comes to taking the real exam.
Mock exams are invaluable as a resource to you – so much so, that at the proper exam, you don’t get uptight.
