Obtaining an Ontario Certificate of Status

Ontario Certificates of Status are issued by the Ontario Ministry of Government Services for Ontario companies. Sometimes these are called Certificates of Good Standing or Certificates of Compliance and all companies registered in all jurisdictions in Canada and for that matter all companies registered in any country can obtain these certificates when needed. They are called Certificates of Status in Ontario.
Certificates of Status are issued when you need to provide some institution or person with confirmation that your Ontario company is in good standing and is up-to-date in its filings.
If you obtain an Ontario Certificate of Status it will show the following: (a) the current name of the corporation; (b) the number assigned to the corporation by the government called the Ontario Corporation Number; and (b) whether or not the corporation is in good standing.
Ontario companies must file federal tax returns each year and if those returns are not filed for many years the federal government will eventually dissolve the company. If a company has been dissolved it will not be able to receive a clear Certificate of Status.
Your Ontario corporation will be dissolved by the Ministry of Government Services if the annual returns are not filed. If you wish to order a Certificate of Status then you must ensure the annual returns are up-to-date or you will not receive a Certificate indicating the corporation is in good standing.
The government does not refund the money if a clear Certificate of Status cannot be issued. Basically it will issue a Certificate of Status that indicates the Ontario company is not in compliance and you will then need to file any outstanding returns and order a new Certificate of Status. A Certificate of Status is not cheap so if you know in advance you have not made your filings you should at the least ensure all Ontario annual returns are filed before ordering your Certificate of Status. If you have some outstanding tax returns but have not been dissolved then you will still receive a favourable Certificate of Status as long as your Ontario annual returns have been filed with the Ontario Companies Branch.
A Certificate of Status is not an Ontario corporate search. If you are trying to determine information about an Ontario company you should have an Ontario Corporate Profile search done rather than ordering a Certificate of Status.
When do you need to obtain a Certificate of Status? Well, if the company is entering into an agreement with another company or individual that company or individual might want to know if the company is in good standing. Sometimes banks or law firms might wish to order a Certificate of Status on a company in cases where property is being sold or for many other reasons. Any company might be asked to provide confirmation to someone or some institution that it is in good standing and a Certificate of Status will be requested.

First step is finding the market niche that you want and to drive traffic to your product. First, you need to know who is the clientele/customer? What type of person is this? Are they going to be a male or female? Where do they reside/live? What language do they speak? What amount of money do they make? All are questions that you need to find out and that’s why research is so important.
Next is where do they go? What types of online activities do they do? What search engines do they use? What web sites or community programs do they use? This is a part of the research that you will need to do. You will have to go find them and bring them to your product.
Okay what does your clientele truly want? First and foremost a person will want to know what they are getting is worth it. Well how can you tell? The B.B.B. will be able to tell you which products/programs that are of value to you and your clientele. Anything that is above a B+ rating would be good in my eye’s but you may feel differently.
Some of the one’s on the B.B.B. show no problems or rating this may be due to not enough feedback to them about that particular product so please be careful but it is best to check out your product. Also many people have found that free product information is a good way to find out about a product before you purchase it. Free reports, or daily or weekly e-mails are a good way to get your product out there repeatedly to your clientele.
The idea is that you are going to provide someone a sullution for what they are feeling needs help or improvement. Whether it be a promotional product, affiliate products or a new digital camera that records in the highest pixel count known these days by this specific company. You are going to be providing a solution or a program that helps or fixes something that is needed by your clientele.
What products does your clientele use and buy that is in the same area as the product that you are promoting. This is the area that you will want to advertise/promote your product. In other words if you are promoting a camera you wouldn’t want to put an advertisement under the category for Herbals, makes an abundance of sense doesn’t it.
You have a store that sells power tools. But you don’t have any accessories. This would be an unwise move because how many people want to get everything they need in a one stop shop convenience. So you would want to advertise in an area that would sell let’s say drill bits or saw blades. Advertise towards home improvement or do it yourself. This is one of the parts of research that was mentioned before. Research is THE MAIN KEY to starting any type of work online or off.
You will need to find the area’s that your clientele go. Do they read a lot of articles, or do they go to chat programs or online communities. Do they read and follow certain blogs or twitter accounts. While you are researching you will find most of the area’s your clientele will be, and in what area you need to promote your product or promotional advertisement. What type of reading do they do? Where do they go to find and read what interests them and how would you be able to bring them to your product. Research is the first and foremost part of starting your own business in any form.
